I now measure my Korean past in “pre-” and “post-Chuseok”. The weekend was that nice. And such a change of pace from the slighly manic air of Seoul.
The following video is a short clip of one of my grade 4 classes. We were playing a game called “BOMBS AWAY!” which I have used at least 3 seperate times. The theme was “Who is she/Who is he?” Grade fours are awesome. They’re still as sweet as the grade 3s, but with a calmer way about them.
The next few videos are from the weekend before Chuseok at the Seoul International Drum Festival. It was amazing. It wasn’t as international as I might have hoped (the one non-Korean group being from Brazil … and only pulling out any drums for the last piece. Mostly toned booty-shaking was going down. No one minded.) There WERE a lot of female ensembles though and we kept saying that we’d never seen Korean women seem so … wild before. These women were totally in love with drum music. I have a lot more videos, but I pulled the nicest ones. Sorry for the horrible sound quality. Maybe turn off your sound. For real.
